Steady Hand
1. Hold out your hand as steady as you can
2. Look at your hand without judgement
3. Relax-N-Breathe
You can do this exercise for as long or short as you see fit. These 3 Steps are good for practicing non-judgement and focus. The hand is the object of focus.
SHM is also a good practice for many areas of the workforce. Its a good meditation practice for those who do any work that involves using the hands. Especially, if they need steady hands like a Surgeon.
There is another stage you may experience I call
Floating Hand Meditation (FHM).
Floating Hand
4. With eyes open or closed…..begin to sense the repulsion between your hand and the floor.
5. As you begin to feel the force of resistance, between your hand and the floor, relax your hand and fingers to the degree that you feel your hand slightly resting on the repulsion.
The 5 steps deepen the meditation. This is a good exercise for developing stillness and relaxing stress related shaky hands, and awakening our awareness of the aura through the hands.
In our Brain, The hands occupy 30% of motor and sensory cortex.
This means, that what we do with our hands affects the way we feel.
Our fingertips have more sensory receptors than any other part of the body.
Our fingers position impacts which mode of awareness that arises within us.
Each hand position lights up a certain part of our brain, which impacts our energy, our mood, and the way we perceive the world around us. (Source: chopra.com)
Tension in our hands are a natural occurrence, because the tiny muscle fibers in our hands and arms constantly contract and relax randomly, and sometimes these muscle groups are imbalanced, which causes the timing of these contractions to be off.
So becoming mindful of the hands and relaxing them at will, and breathing diaphragmatically, can help reduce stress related shakiness.
There are two types of causes of shaky hands; stress related or medically related.
Stress related shaky hands can be; lack of sleep, tension in the hands, caffeine, anxiety, emotional distress, or nervousness.
Medical shaky hands can be medication, neurological disorder, or medical condition, like low blood sugar for example.
According to Neurologist Dr. Gathline Etienne, if shaky hands begin to interfere with daily tasks like eating, drinking, writing, dialing a phone, or buttoning a shirt, etc.
In these cases, you may want to visit your doctor to test for a neurological or underlying metabolic issue. (Source: piedmont.org)
Human beings are both receivers and transmitters of energy. We receive energy through our left palm and give energy with our right palm. These are called hand Chakras.
A Chakra is a spinning Wheel of energy. It is said that there are 114 different chakras, but we have 7 basic Chakras that exist along our spine; from the top of our head to the tip of the spine.
7 Chakras
1. Top of Head = Crown = Awareness, Intelligence; color Violet or White
2. Forehead = Third Eye = Seeing, Intuition, Imagination, color Indigo
3. Throat = Speaking, Communication ; color Blue
4. Heart = Center of The Chest = Love, Compassion; color Green
5. Solar Plexus = Upper abdomen; Will Power, Self Esteem, Confidence; color Yellow
6. Sacral = just below the belly button; creativity, emotions, pleasure; color Orange
7. Root = Base of the Spine; physical needs, grounding
Survival; color Red
All these energetic centers of the body correspond to feelings, drives, or states. So also do the chakras in the hand.
We have 7 Chakras in our hands that correspond with the Chakras in the Body.
7 Hand Chakras
Hand Chakras are an important part of the body’s energy system. Hand Chakras are located in the hands and like the 7 main Chakras they correspond to the colors of the rainbow. Each Hand Chakra is associated with a different aspect of our lives.
The Hand Chakras are:
1. The Root Hand Chakra
It is red and is located in the thumb. It is associated with our physical needs and survival.
2. The Sacral Hand Chakra
It is orange and is located in the palm just below the thumb. It is associated with our emotions and creativity.
3. The Solar Plexus Hand Chakra
It is yellow and is located in the center of the palm. It is associated with our willpower and self-confidence.
4. The Heart Hand Chakra
It is green and is located in the center of the palm below the Solar Plexus Hand Chakra. It is associated with love and compassion.
5. The Throat Hand Chakra
It is blue and is located at the base of the thumb on the side of the hand closest to the wrist. It is associated with our ability to communicate effectively.
6. The Third Eye Hand Chakra
It is indigo and is located in the center of the palm above the Throat Hand Chakra. It is associated with our intuition and spiritual awareness.
7. The Crown Hand Chakra
It is violet and is located at the top of the head on the forehead just above the eyebrows. It is associated with our connection to Spirit.

To open the Hand Chakras follow these instructions:
Touch each finger to the thumb pressing each finger firmly to the thumb one at a time. Do this on both hands simultaneously or one hand at a time.
Now hold up your right hand (steady not stiff) and take you left thumb and press it in the center of your right hand palm, turning your thumb clockwise and repeat 5-10 times or until you feel stimulation.
Now hold up your left hand (steady not stiff) and take you right thumb and press it in the center of your left hand palm, turning your thumb clockwise and repeat 5-10 times or until you feel stimulation.
Now rotate your right and left palms 3-4 inches apart until you feel a subtle repulsion between your hands like two magnets pushing apart.
After you begin to feel the repulsion between your hands, hold your right hand out and rotate your palm clockwise in place slowly over the ground to increase the sensation of repulsion between your hand and the floor.
Tingling in the Hands?
If you are feeling a tingling sensation in your Hand Chakras this a good sign. It means you are becoming conscious of your subtle body and energy is beginning to flow. Continue to practice the meditation and visualize the energy flowing through hands and body.
